Yea... unplug it and check the backside of the cigarette lighter. / the console.. and see if theres any tabs that lock it in.

I havent taken it out before but i could imagine thats what would hold it in.

I didn't remove the lighter socket from the console, but there's an electrical plug you can disconnect in the wiring so that the console can be removed from the car.

I did that already. The console is sitting in my lap as I type...

Problem is for the project I'm doing, I need to completely remove the cigar lighter from the console, not just unplug it which I already did...

i think it goes out thru the front... if you squeeze the tabs like u did. and pull it out the other direction does it wiggle or feel loose at all?

You have to unscrew it, its 3 seperate peices. If you can hold the inside part then unscrew the long peice from the back side. I had to rebuild mine today. On mine that plastic ring thing that goes around it broke and the whole thing sliped inside. If you dont need it any more just break that plastic ring and it will come out. That plastic ring cost me 6 dollars today.

It would be helpfull if I saw screws. I have been hammering this thing, pounding this thing, screw drivering this thing, Took a screw driver and even a pry bar and it hasn't even BUDGED. Yet I can't see whats holding it in placed. Okay it's moved ALITTLE, the top half does seem to dislocate alittle but then just snaps back in place. You think I'm hurting it? This thing is whooping my *** and has yet to attain a single SCRATCH... This is the godly indestructable console from H-E-DOUBLE-L...

Look at the very end of it...where it plugs into the car. It reminds me of how a light bulb screws into a lamp. You have to hold the inside part, maybe with a screw driver, i used channel locks because my plastic ring was broken. Then use another channel lock or a strong hand and unscrew it. Its 3 total peaces.

Like i said i just rebuilt mine today. It had it out of the car trying to figure out how to replace the plastic ring that goes around it. Even with me having it totally out if took me a minute to figure out this GM engineering. Its really a stuped setup. I was going to take pics, but i cut my finger open trying to unscrew this thing and never did. IF YOU REALLY NEED ME TO ILL UNINSTALL MINE, TAKE IT APART AND SEND YOU PICS...IF YOU REALLY NEED IT.
