• Searched and found..... nuthin' How to effectively lighten your car

Just wondering if you've lightened your car... what all did you do? Does it cut down on functionality? I know 12secondV6 did some serious lightening and I'm interested in what he did.

Thank you for the info.

Take out your spare tire and jack.

Remove the back seat (and passenger seat? heh).

Go to the track with less gas in the tank.

Those are just some easy ones.

James could get away with the extent of what he did because he has a daily driver other than his bird (too bad its a neon...but apparently its sexy or something).
The easiest thing to do is take a look at what is there...and then decide what you could do without and then take it out.

Magnus has an excellent resource of information on his website, complete with approximate weights. But just to get started, you can take out:

passenger seat and seat belt
Backseat and seat belts
trunk fold over flap
jack and spare
inside door panels
center console

Depends on how far you want to go with it. Besides interior if your going to use the car for just 1320ft sway bars. Funny but I wouldn't recomend this:

Take out the A/C, sound system. Lose weight.

yeah, I don't normally have anyone driving with me, so I figure I'll take the back seat out which will hopefully make my mpg ever-so-slightly better. After I test the waters in college and see how often I give people rides (if at all) I'll decide then whether or not to take out the passenger's seat .

Can't take out the A/C though O_o... it gets pretty hot here.
