Re: MSD plug wires
heat shield doesn't need to go back on as long as it is not resting on the header/manifold

Re: MSD plug wires
I would leave the heat shields off, I have had the MSD 8.5mm 90 degree boot wires for several years with boot protectors worked great. I switched to stright MSD 8.5mm wires about 6 months ago with some new black heat protectors, the only problem with the straight wires is on #3 and #4 I run under the primaries on the RK sport headers. The boot protectors def. due their job, the only thing it leaves is a white mark on the boot protectors. The boot protectors are a good investment, I found a guy on ebay who sells them individually, I got mine for about $22 shipped, heat rated for 1200 or 1500 degrees(don't remember), good investment if your keeping the car awhile.Last edited by ssms5411; 07-26-2008, 09:03 PM.08' L76 6.0L 4X4 Chevy EXT.Cab LTZ Vortec MAX with Snug top cover, Dynomax exhaust,Hptuners& K&N intake
