I am trying to find out some information about engines; specifically short, long, and big blocks. Does anybody know of a site where I can get any info on them?

It's not the cubic inch displacement that makes the big block. The big block engine is just that, a different type of engine where the block is physically bigger than the "small block"2001 Camaro, 3.8 v6. Five speed. Red. SLP Torque arm, SLP CAI, adj. panhard bar, lcas, eibach springs, 3.73 gears and Zexel-Torsen T-2 LSD.

I think big/small blocks has to do w/the size of the bore before overboring. Doesn't apply to all motors though, as the Poncho 326~455 have basically the same size blocks, jsut different bore & main size, but can interchange cams & heads (w/slight notching e.g 350 H.O.)The bastardification of Third & Fourth gen cars.

Big blocks are seriously just BIG blocks. They're HUGE. It's based on physical exterior dimensions. Displacement has nothing to do with it. The LPE 427TT Corvette uses a small block design. The small block can go well beyond 400 cubic inches though. Big block cams and cranks are longer than small block parts if that helps you understand it. Anybody want to add anything else or correct me if I'm wrong?~Chris
1999 Hugger Orange Camaro
http://www.cardomain.com/ride/273836

†…faith…hope
