  • Error Code P1665

Just got my car scanned at Auto Zone (SES light is on), got a Powertrain code 1665. Unfortunately, that code was not in their computer. The dude said it was probably 0665, and that it was a bad 02 sensor on the intake manifold. Anybody know if he is right, or if there is a 1665?

P1665 = EVAP Vent Solenoid Control Circuit, and it will illuminate MIL (SES).

Replace the O2 Sensor and it should clear up.

Evap. Vent, isn't that associated with the evaporative control for the gas tank? Used to be a charcoal canister on older cars, with a vacuum line to draw the evaporated fumes from the canister to the intake when the car was started?

Is this the code you get when the gas cap isn't screwed on tight....?

The Auto Zone guy was telling me that I needed to check the 02 sensors on the intake manifold. I wasnt aware that there were any 02 sensors on the intake side - I thought they were all related to exhaust gasses, before and after the cat. Did the Auto Zone know what he was talking about? If he did, where are the sensors on the intake manifold?

Let's see, on the intake side, there is IAT, then maf, then tps. That's all I can think of. Oh, and EGR. Definitely no O2. Sounds like the guy was not quite on the right wavelength...

Thats what I was thinking...what does the EVAP solenoid have to do with an 02 sensor? And yes, the EVAP vent has to do with Charcoal canisters and all that stuff, I guess they arent just on older cars.

So what do I need to do to get this code to go away?

OK first off AutoZones response to any problem from the PCM is tro replace the O2 sensor, they have an imcomplete list of error codes too. Don't trust them,

The code you got was for your Evap canister like r&ksport said. Dont mess with the 02's they are expensive and not the reason for your error code.

There are no 02 sensors in the intake manifold, which is more proof that they are idiots. There are 4 O2's, right manifold, left manifold, pre cat and post cat..

But back to your actual problem. Try taking the gas cap off and putting it back on. Sometimes sudden changes in pressure inside the gas tank or a loose gas cap can give EVAP errors. If the light does not go away after a few more driving cycles, have it checked out by a mechanic.

If you have any more questions just drop me an email, and I'll see if I can help you.

tightening gas cap will not repair this problem. perform circuit diagnosis on evap canister purge solenoid and related circuits. check for proper voltage from pcm at the correct time. this may require tech2 scan tool for interactive testing of evap canister purge solenoid.
AZ scans codes so they can sell you parts. period. it is a marketing technique.
