x2. Don't forget a new filter and clean out that magnet in the pan!

...then again he has made it over 200k without all that fuss...

how long has it been "lacking oomph"?

i used to be able to do some sick nasty burnouts in my Astro, and after a while i started to notice that when i'd try to spin em up, it took a little longer and a little longer to get the tires spinnin...it got to where i could jab it, and where it used to would break loose and leave faint marks in a corner, it would only slowly pull away...but it had all the same pickup on the highway (sound familiar?)

that was right before the tranny let go...sounds like what you might have there...high miles, i presume?
