i got a new edelbrock cat back and catco 3" in/out catylitic converter installed today, and about 5 min. i drove it, the "service engine soon light came on. it wont turn off, yet my car runs great. does anyone think theres really a problem or is it just the car sensing something it wasnt programed to understand? since the car runs great (no stall, cutting out, weird idle, etc.) why did the light come on, and if its nothing, how do i turn it off?

I have the same problem.. The code you are getting is probaly "catalist low effiency"... It happens.. You may have leaks.. but.. the solution i am going with is O2 sim.. get one at ZZPerformance.. they are on sale 33$.. problem shuld be solved.. that is what i am doing..
any insight on pros/cons with the o2 sim would help me out..
i had an O2 sim and it worked great, but from what i learned in my quest for a fast car is that these OBD 2 computers sometimes have thier own little tests. for example it will richen your fuel mixture just to see if all the sensors are picking up what they should be. if you have an O2 simm, your test wont pass. something like that. dont take my word as holy scripture though, i know nothing about these things. but i do know tom at SSM is against them and that helped me not buy another one when my exhaust shop stole my last one.
6s.......under the hood or under the belt, they just dont cut it.
Interesting.. I "think" the computer bases all of its performance information off the first two sensors..
The one behind the cat is simply for emmisions if i am not mistaken??
Ohh yeah.. here is a good one.. My state does the obdII port test.. Does anyone know if the car will pass with the o2 sim?
later

BTW: darkthoughts.. Just so you know.. the edelbrock system sounds like crud when first installed.. It will get better.. it really mellows out after about 400-500 miles..
