  • Any recommended spark plug wires for pacesetter headers?

    Hello,

I just put some pacesetter headers on my 02 v6 and the factory wires touch the headers, anyone recommend a good set of wires to fit around these suckers?

    Thanks!

You can get the MSD 8.5 with a 90 degree boot then use heat sleeves at the ends, you won't have any problems after that.

Just had my misfire last weekend and had to drive 150 miles up the Parkway on five cylinders. Sounded like I was driving a pod racer. I'm planning on buying those spark plug wires, I believe the part number is 32089 if you look in to them as well. They are supposedly multi angle so should be all good. Now to just find some heat sleeves, apparently Autozone doesn't have any.

What about some of those wire separators for the 8.5mm wire? I tried searching through eBay after checking out your links but I don't really know what they're called and couldn't find anything. The stock ones I think are for 8mm wires and so are ones I can get at AutoZone.

I got some niceones in red color(like the wires) from Pep-Boys for about 5 bucks.

QUESION: I got MSD 8.5 90 degree Universals. Do you think is good idea to cut the wires to the same lenght like the custom ones? I would not prefer to cut them.

Sorry about this stupid question: Will they fit too long in such way that will touch anything extra-super hot on the engine?

depends on the routing of the wires and if you are using seperators and such to organize them. They could or could not touch things depending on your install techniques

trust me when i say......don't get ready made wires. there isn't enough pay, for around the headers. i learned that 2 times over. i have taylors cut to fit.

I like the MSDs my self...I had a set of the MSD street fires on my T/A and they delivered spark quite well, even fell on the headers a few times and didn't melt.....much. also accel makes header plugs for 3.8s that help with clearance and are fairly high quality. I had my 3rd gen with just cam, intake, headers and 3.42s running 13s with em

Just out of curiosity, if I do a search for MSD 32089 they all look straight on the boot end. The ones on Ebay look like they are 90 degrees on the end. I have some boot protectors (bought them at the time I got the spark plugs because I could just tell I was going to need em!) but just warming it up in the drive way melted the ends of the straight ones. Are we all sure 32089 is the right part number for the 90 degree ends?

As a side note, why would this not be a good wire to use?

                            It is part number 31079.
