I usually use Wolfshead regular 30weight. Check it out, it's that heavy duty stuff.

I use royal purple 5W-30. It has been good to me so far (20,000 mi. with it). I am thinking about switching back to 10W-30 though, for more protection. Royal Purple, Amsoil, and Redline are the only true synthetics out there any more. The rest are all highly refined dino oil.

Not true, Mobil1 and Valvoline are true synthetics.

Castrol and others are now refined dino oil though =(

I use Mobile 1 Tri-Synthetic, great stuff. If not, I use Valvoline in the rest of my cars...250,000 miles on a 91 escort.

Dominic: Check again ;) Mobile 1 used to be full synthetic but has since changed their formula to better compete with all the other companies that advertise full synthetic but sell refined dino oil. There has been a huge discusion about this going on over at altimas.net about this. check it out http://www.altimas.net/forum/showthr...threadid=32739

There is a lot of good reading over there about different oils.

I use the cheapest name brand I can find and change every 3,000. Oil is a consumable. It's not a mod. If I had a reason to go synthetic, I would.

That is a forum post, not a R&D Article.

Mobil1 clearly states their oil as being "Fully Synthetic" first and foremost. "Mobil 1® With SuperSyn™ Fully Synthetic Motor Oil"

(Also it looks like Mobil 1 has been reformulated... hmm I'm reading their website. I'll make a post when I find the answer.)

                  http://www.caranddriver.com/xp/Caran...mns_bedard.xml

                  Read this...

Quote: "The notion behind synthetic motor oils as we've known them is an elegant one. Instead of relying on the cocktail of hydrocarbons contained in crude oil, why not go into the laboratory and build the perfect base stock from scratch, molecule by molecule? The synthesizing of PAO starts with ethylene gas, a simple two-carbon molecule, and builds till it gets 10-carbon molecules, then combines three of those to form PAO. The result is a fluid more stable than the usual base oils derived from crude. It keeps flowing at low temperatures. It's more resistant to boiling off, and more resistant to oxidation, which causes thickening with prolonged exposure to high temperatures."

Basically - Mobil 1 and anything else that uses a PAO base stock is fully synthetic. Mobil 1 (with the exception of the Amsoil spinoff) was the first fully synthetic oil on the market and still remains synthetic.
