• oil change question????????

I have a 2001 3.8 camaro. I want to use Mobil 1 10w-30 how many quarts and what oil filter should i get? and I also have 33000 miles is it a good idea to put in injector cleaner in my gas? if so what kind? I am getting 240 mile to a tank. Shouldn't I be getting better then that? should i change fuel filter?

    Thanks for the help

Use a good oil filter like K&N or Mobil 1 and you will need 4.5Q. I have a 98 and that is how much mine calls for. It will also tell you in the owners manual. Its recommended that you change your fuel filter every 30K or so. A lot of people here like to change it every 10K miles. They can be picked up pretty cheap at most auto parts stores.

First, if you use 100% synthetic oil you have to continue using it. Synth and regular don't get along with each other. Try a blended oil. AN oil filter is an oil filter, just change it regularly. Ours is in a great spot so it's a breeze. Fuel filter? Yes, it is also pretty easy, but I suggest you get a mannual for our cars. (Chilton, Clymers, Haynes...) You have to depressurize the fuel system before changing the filter. You'll still get a lot of gas, but at least it won't spray everywhere. About the Gas additive, sure you can use them, but use as directed. I used one, thinking it whould better more consentrated (only 5 or 6 gallons of gas vise 10) I ended up screwing up 2 of the 4 O2 sensors (100 bucks)

This might have been true in the very early days of synth, but, these days all name brand synth oil is designed to mix with regular oil. I believe it's part of the requirements to get an SAE rating. To be safe check the lable on the synth. It should say it's compatible with regular oil.

i got a quick question about oil changing too, I always change my own oil and stuff. only problem I have is that no matter how long i let the oil drain out it seems beforehand, everytime I take off the filter, oil spills out everywhere. Is there any way to avoid this? It's the only thing that pisses me off when i change my oil.

The only way to fix this is to jack the front end up about 10 feet in the air and stand the car on it's brake-lights to let the oil drain to the engine.

You can always use a center-punch and punch a hole in the center of the filter to allow it to drain, but as far as I'm concerned, you're not going to successfully change your oil without getting some on something you'd rather not have oil on.
