Just out of curiosity, what about old Mustang 5.0's and the 4.6's and 3.8's?

ALL 3.8's are 118 from the factory. I don't think the lt1/ls1's were ever limited. My brother had a 95 z28, he had his up to 155 on I-95.

I have a 125 mph speedometer on a car that tops out at 118, I dont like it. I have only taken it to 110, figured it would wrap up around 130 or so.

FWIW, it's because the tires that come with the car (assuming base package) are T rated, which means they're only safe up to 118 mph. ;)

For what its worth I have heard of z28s with 118 speed limiters. I believe it was z28s with "v6 tires" that were not Z-rated.
