• Camaro saved my life.

I have errrr had a 1994 Chevy Camaro.

So I was heading to work on sunday the 4th and everything seemed to be going as planned... Until this psycho chick changed my day, rather my life.

I was on the highway going around 65-70 and a young girl in her early 20's in a brand new honda civic decides she is going to mess with me. I however wanted nothing to do with it. This is a 2 lane highway and I was in the passing lane with her in the right lane. There was no traffic near us. She decides that it would be fun to do that stupid show off swerve in your lane thing at 80!! She looses control and slams into my passenger door which shatters my window all over me. This then throws me almost directly into the guarder rail in the median of this highway. This sets my airbags off and my car ALMOST FLIPS OVER into opposing traffic. My car falls back down and then I begin sliding 100 yards down the highway and eventually hit the guarder rail again from behind where I stayed. At this time I am covered in blood and glass and cannot breath from the airbag gases. A man in a modified mustang (go figure) stops to help me. He pulls me out of my car and helps me call 911 (he took my cell phone and dialed it.) I am of course disoriented as hell and in a lot of pain. Police come and ect and I am rushed to the nearest hospital. I am told "I should have died in that accident." "That car saved your life."

I am going to post some pictures here of my car when it was towed to the garage to be taken away. Obviously it is totalled.

This is the right side of the car where she hit me

Here is where my car went into the guarder rail (car pic)

Here is the guarder rail where I hit (its much worse in person)

I have more pictures if anyone wants some more.

The accident is 100% her fault and AllState, which is her insurance company, is paying for everything.

I plan to sue her for back and neck complications and other things. She almost killed me.

I am SO happy with chevy right now. The airbags worked flawlessly even after 11 years and the quality of the car is what saved my life. This is yet another reason to love F-bodies.

Holy s**t man, glad to hear your ok. Even if i'm in the most pissed off mood, a story about a good semaritan can cheer me up(mustang driver). Something/somebody was looking out for you.

**** dude sorry to hear but this shoud be a lounge post... Ricers really tick me off though, one nearly claimed my life but that was on my stupidity of racing to begin with... never again... Atleast you survived... What're your injuries? How long before you're up and ready again? What happened to the Honda? Was it totalled and did she atleast appoligise for trying to be a stuntamatic? Well is All State going to repair your car or buy you a new one or what? If you get a new one, it's time to Up The Carnage... Z28 or SS... This way, when she swerves in your lane, you can drop the gear and leave HER to meet the gaurdrail instead... ;)

It sucks because the only thing to go wrong with her care was her freaking bumper came off!! Her car is almost untouched...

I never got to talk to her and she did not apologize. She even lied a bit on the police report but I still win. I'm saving that for court anyhow. I have witnesses.

I am having serious breating issues from the airbag gas and my back is in serious pain. They said I might have to come back because of back injury. I almost am suffering from perhaps permanent whiplash. Luckily though no severe or loss-of-limb type of ordeals.

        Yeah I'm looking at a 2000 Z28 right now for $7,000.

Let me clarify that I was not racing whatsoever. I was basically a victim in all of this.

Yeah. I wish I remembered his name... Very nice guy. I respect mustang drivers more now

Glad to hear that you are ok. I love how safe our cars are. The only thing that I have questioned is how close the top of the windshield is to my head. I'm 6'2" and I think that if I were ever to be in a head on collision that my neck would snap from hitting it: unless the airbag or something stopped me from doing so. But yeah, I'm glad to hear that you made it!

Also remember, just because we and Mustangs are rivals, doesn't mean we both arn't in it to keep the streets rice free!

I'm glad your ok man. So what did she lie about in the reports? She probably said you were racing her, am I right? I guess she just had to lie to the police and dig the hole deeper, thats the way some people just are... and people like you could have your life taken or have serious injuries, and she can walk away without even apologizing. Very bad attitude on her part.

Yep, camaros live up to their reputation of 5 star crash ratings.

My old blue one kept me safe - There was no fault filed since it was an odd accident (we won't go into details, but guy kept right on driving), but I hit a concrete barrier wall at ~60 mph, spun around twice. Only thing wrong with me was a little bit of a stiff neck/upper back and some seat belt marks, but I got up and walked out of the car.
Not only that, but the engine was still running.

yea I'm just glad to see that your car didnt roll over, yea it seems like it would take a lot to get them to roll but this kid i used to play hockey with had one and he somehow managed to flip his f-body over and he is now paralyzed from the waste down. But I dont know the whole story i have only seen him once since the accident and really didnt want to bring up the tragedy and start asking him how and stuff like that. But he was over 6'0" also.

Glad you made it out cool... my dad got in a bad wreck in the 94, almost totaled it when it was 1 year old. But walked out of it no problems.

Its crazy stuff, I saw a report on a different type of crash testing, and the camaro was one of the best ones out there.
