I own a '94 Firebird 3.4
The oil pressure has been low(20 psi at start up,and drops to 0 at idle when warm), so I took it to a shop today. They told me I had a faulty oil pressure sender that was leaking profusely(I originally thought it was a leaky oil pan) .I had them do the work(). So I picked up the car and started it. I got 60psi oil pressure that went down to 40 when warm. The oil was no longer leaking rapidly. Everything seemed perfect.
I take the car directly to the car Wash. Turn it on after the wash and WTF? The car begins to sputter, and cuts off. I keep on turning it and giving it gas and the longer I do it the worse it gets(to the point where It wont even move when givin' gas). First, it would start and stumble, but if I'd give it a little throttle to keep it running it dies.I heard some popping sounds when the trouble first began too. Within 30 minutes of getting my car back it won't move an inch. It was working fine before.
As of right now the engine will crank, but won't catch fire. I have enough knowledge to believe that it's not a weak battery. The oil level is good. I called the shop and the guy told me I was pretty much on my own. He said all he did was change the oil pressure sending unit. Would that cause my trouble?
I think a have a legit gripe with the shop(they haven't seen the last of me).If my car is okay, but then craps out within 30 minutes of them working on it, something is fishy.
