  • Camaro Factory Alarm System

I was woundering if anyone encountered this problem with their factory alarm system. I live in Hartford CT so as you know its really cold, well the colder it gets the longer it takes for my alarm to deactivate itself. You see I don't have the remote to my alarm, just the key that I need to put into the car so I can start it. Here is what happens, I open the door and stick my key into the ignition and turn it so that the lights in my dash are on but I can't start the car because of my alarm tring to I guess" decode itself". You see the red light flashing and you hear a clicking noise of the alarming tring to deactive itself. This process takes forever if the car is sitting for a long period of time. I just changed the battery on this car thinking it was problem. Any Ideas??

Why don't you just get a keyfob so you don't have to go through all that trouble? You can get one off ebay for like $10, and it's real easy to program them yourself. That's my suggestion.

Ok guys, I hope someone can help me out with this.

Are there any settings on this alarm that you can change? I bought my Car used, and it didn't have an manual.

I know I've got the alarm, becuase, I've only got one fob, and one I day I gave someone my door key so they could leave something in the car for me. When the opened the door with the key, the alarm went off :D

So, you press the lock button on the fob, and its armed. What if you lock the doors as you get outa the car, and shut the door, not using the fob. Is the Alarm still on? What about the Shock sensor? Mine was disconected when I bought the car. I found it in the glove box, while doing speakers I found the plug for it. For now, i've left it disconected, becuase no matter how I'd adjust it, when I'd shut my door, I'd set off the alarm...

Maybe someone could scan the alarm section of the manual for me? That'd be awesome.

On my 2000 if you use the power locks inside and then the key outside, the alarm will go off. If you manually lock both doors you can use the key and the alarm WON'T go off.

There are a million different options to how u want you alarm to work. It requires taking out the radio fuse and using a combination of buttons on the fob. Your best bet is to get a new manual.
