I've noticed as of late when I start the 'maro when it's cold, it misfires a little. When it misfires, it makes a sound that's like that spurt of air you get when taking the hose off an air tool, just not nearly as loud.
Well my camaro absolutely hates cold weather. Last winter I went through a complete tuneup to no avail, and when summer rolled around, she started to run like a dream. So the cold may be a part of it.
Check your plug wires too, they could have tiny cracks that are bigger when its cold, then they close up when they warm up.

Yea baby, Brady is out, Jets are 1-2, playoffs here we come.
When I say cold weather, obviously I mean winter, but there is a noticeable difference between starting in the morning now when it gets down to 50-60 at night versus starting it after work when its been in the sun and its 70. Again, just a thought, with your puffing noise I imagine that temperature is not the culprit.
Have you made sure the plugs are in tight? Maybe when it warms up and things expand, it seals enough to stop the leak. But when it's cold, maybe the compressed air in the cylinder is blowing past the plug.

Wouldn't there be a bit of a fuel smell too if that were true?
Bone, you should hear my 98 at idle when I just start it up. It sounds like it's got some crazy muffled back fire. I have no muffler though, just a turbo and a short downpipe.. Hey i'll take a vid of it here in a minute and put it on youtube. As far as I know though, it's never been a problem.. I'm not entirely sure why it does it. But after it warms up it will idle considerably smoother.
