• AC cutting out under WOT

Do all of our cars' air conditioning cut off during wide open throttle? Mine does it all the time, even 3/4 throttle does it sometimes. It'll cut off (by cut off I mean blow warm air) for anywhere between 10 and 30 seconds, and it's pretty annoying. Any way to disable this "feature"?

You can fix it with HPTuners.

Maybe I'm weird, but I kinda like having full power available even when I have A/C on. It kicks back in as soon as I get back off the gas.

Isn't the extra power worth betting a little hot? :D

              Hey,

I have a 3.4 94 WITHOUT A/C and my fan cuts out during WOT and sometimes around 3k.

This also happened on my 86' caprice classic with A/C (but the a/c didnt work), the fan just cut out and the windshield wipers stopped moving.

My dad tells me that this is becuase chevy HVAC systems are vaccum driven and that during acceleration you don't have too much extra vaccum to power the vent flaps or windshield wipers or whatever.

IDK, he also said this was true like in the 60's.

              Thoughts?

my fan continues to blow, it just cuts the compressor off i guess, making the air warm

                  It cuts the compressor off...

on my 2k, it says it kicks it off at 90% TPS...

trust me you want it to kick off...

just make your car faster, so you are at WOT less and its not enough to cool the car down.

btw check FL section we are doing a central FL meet soon, check it out. looking like it might be at hooters on lake underhill(right off of 408)

But currently my HVAC switch only goes from floor-windshield to high. Thoose are the only settings that change the direction of the air, so it might be something with that also?
