Re: Car still heats up badly.

I have mine with a drilled 160 thermo and tuned for the fans to come on at 180. My car will still see 210-215 temps if it is hot out, stays around 180 when it is cool out. As long as your car isn't going into 235 or above it is running fine. If it heats up to 210 and then goes back down while driving that is normal, when you sit in traffic there is no airflow coming up from the front air dam so it will heat up. So I think the car is fine , when you start going over the 230 temps , then I would be worried.

1- the temp goes up to 220 quickly but my fans do NOT come on because there is something wrong with them (probably the coolant temp sensor) which is why i installed a manual fan switch.

2- I turn them on myself

3- technically yes, if i turn the fans on around 180 or so it will get to the 220 mark but pretty much stops there, that is with the fan on.

4- if i'm idling and say i'm at 220 degrees before i flip the switch, yes it does go down, but VERY slowly.

5- yes the temperature does go down to about 160 degrees (thermo temp) while driving, however it may take several minutes to get back down to it from 220.

6- generally NO but if i just let it sit there and cook long enough of course it would.

I do see your point though, I may be overreacting.

yah my car went to 220 and then my fans would kick on. i think 220 is normal. i just wired my fan to come on when the car turns on and now my car never goes above 180

imo you probably don't want them on as soon as the car comes on cuz you want your car to get up to operating temps, after that however, i don't see why putting the fan on would be a problem since it never goes lower than that temp even with the fan on.
