So I have searched and I didnt really find anything that anwserd my question. My low oil light came on yesterday. It was a little bit low so I added some and it went off. Then it came back on and the oil level is still perfect. Now it will come on but somthimes it will go out then come back on after i start my car. I scaned it at auto zone to see if it would help but it had no codes. What do you think I need to fix and how hard do you think it will be to fix? thanks brian

I've had this exact problem. You need a new oil level sensor. It costs around $30 and is a very easy fix. It's right on the side of the oil pan, you disconnect the electrical connector and unscrew the sensor, and vice versa for installation. The reason it is off when you restart it is because it doesn't check the level when the engine is warm.

I take it you have to drain the oil to install this sensor?
My oil light pops on during hard cornering and will not shut off til I restart the motor.Black \'96 RS Camaro, 3.8 V6 Series II, M5, Stock 200 HP, 204K miles!
