  • AC/Heater Fan Noise

So there is an extremely obnoxious, relatively loud noise that comes directly from behind the glovebox area when I turn my heater/ac fan on the 3rd or 4th highest setting. it sounds like an awful buzzing noise and gets worse the higher the fan setting. I took off the glovebox and the noise seems to be eminating directly from a round, black cylinder shaped thing (about 3-4 inches in diameter with an orange tube coming from the cylinder itself). my question is, what the hell is that thing? is that the evaporator? anyone have a part number on it in case it needs replacing?

Take the fan motor out. It is really easy. There is probably some debris in there. Mine had some dried up leaves in it and it was very noisy. I took out the leaves and now it is nice and quiet.

Holy hell the fan was literally half full of leaves. Cleaned all the garbage out of there and sweet fan silence! And it blows a lot harder too, unlike my ex-gf.

Good advice, I think I have something in mine as well as my 3-4 setting makes some buzz like noise, I will take it out and clean it!

Pop out the glovebox, unscrew the few screws/plastic holders that hold the foot panel up, and there will be a round cylinder with 3 screws I believe. Unscrew them and your mouse-wheel fan will fall out and probably a bunch of crap along with it. YUCK! Clean that sucker out and enjoy the silence and a little bit cleaner air :)

Same noise here, does it's easy to remove the blower?

does anyone have in pics on how to get it out. I see a round box, but I don't see any screws holding it in?

Sounds like it'd be a simple write-up for someone to do. And definitely a common problem with our cars. Guess I need to address that awful sputtering noise mine makes.
