Would a bad oil pressure sensor casue my oil pressure gauge to be pinned over 80psi. I checked my level and its good.

    Re: oil pressure

Is this at idle, crusing or WOT, but that really is high. A bad oil pressure sender could be at fault.

        Re: oil pressure

I would check it out, I see 60 at idle and when driving around alot 40-60 WOT and around 40 at idle, only when it is real hot though.

Yes, if the sender is dead it will pin the needle on the high side.... at least on my other cars it has. I don't know if the oil gauge on ours is controlled by the computer or if it's a direct connection to the sender. You could try unplugging it and jumping the wires to see if the needle moves.

              Re: oil pressure

It's going to be pinned no matter what. The sensor is probably dead, or there is a break in the circuit. The needle won't move until you test it or possibly replace the sensor.

I have a similar problem, except after my engine warms up and after maybe 20 minutes or so my gauge goes down to 40 sometimes lower at idle. This has been since my last oil change, my manual said i could put in 10w30 as long as the temp was hotter than 0F out, level is fine, and pressure always picks up with the throttle. Same thing?

                  Re: oil pressure

Same here. With 5w30 oil pressure is 65 cold. 40-45 hot at idle and 55-60 in throttle. Never up to 60 hot.

I've try 10w40 and pressure is 50 cold and 45 idle hot. never up to 50...

                  i will try 5w40 i think, i can't find 10w30 in france

are you sure you didnt write that opposite?

anyways with 10w30 in my car, it is 60 at cold idle, 62 when driving cold, then goes between 45-50 while under 2000 rpms

I know with 10w40 the pressure should be more than 5w30 but it's not the case.

                        So i think it's a sensor problem.

I have exactely what you have in pressure with 5w30. Just when the car is very very hot pressure is 35-40 at idle

I don't know . But cold the pressure is normal. My oil pressure is on the specs but when i got the car it was all the time 60-65psi with 10w40
