heres a few things i did

changed all of the sensors on the throttle body
changed the egr with new gasket

i could have a exhaust leak where the egr? connects to the header on the driver side.

one of the wires going to one of the sensors on the thottle body is taped but its twisted to have a good connection.

not sure what else it could be.

havent checked the codes since i changed the egr. will do that tomorrow.

What do you mean ALL the sensors? You mean the MAF? Why go into that if you know you're throwing codes but haven't addressed those yet . Some autozones you can get your car scanned for free and they'll tell you what your codes correspond to, its a good way to start narrowing things down.

whats the best way to check if the headers are leaking?

                look for loose bolts

Also get a mechanic's stethoscope and probe around the headers and listen for leaks. You could also use it to find a vacuum leak, it would sound like rushing air. A vacuum gauge would tell you if you have a vacuum leak. The stethoscope would help you pinpoint the leak if it exists.

so if my headers are leaking..it would cause it to idle at 2?

i took my headers off once so i could weld a straight pipe on it and cut the cat off. it was hard reaching those bolts.. about to pull it in my garage.

no, they arent going to cause a high idle, unless there is some type of vacuum thing that goes to them

can the part where the egr bolts onto the driver side header cause the high idle? i broke the original bolt/nut and had to drill out the old bolt and use a different bolt/nut. so i thought that may be it. found a header and factory bolt/nut but i gotta go pick it up. i hid it inside the car.

you probably have a vacuum leak somewhere

spray some starting fluid around your engine bay and see if the rpms pick up

what else can cause the high idle?

i took the throttle body off once to clean it and used the same gasket cuz it looked brand new. changed the spark plugs and i'm 99% sure that i gapped them right.

could any of that cause it?

only if something got jammed in the throttle body causing the butterfly to be stuck open a bit, spark plugs arent going to cause a high idle
