Ok guys, this has got me puzzled. My 97 dies at idle, such as if im stopped at a redlight or such. It always starts right back up. The fuel pump has pressure and hold pressure to spec. The IAC has been replaced. Plugs & wires replaced not long ago. What else could it be? Something in the PCM? Has anyone else had this happen to them? Car has over 100k on it.

Re: Car dies at idle
How about the EGR? That will cause stalling at idle.... and many times on deceleration too. Giving it gas will keep it going. If there is no SES light though, it's going to be hard to test the EGR since it's probably electronic.2002 Silver Firebird A4<br />T-Tops, Leather, Y87, W68, Chrome Wheels<br />Bone Stock

Re: Car dies at idle
Not setting a code doesn't necessarily mean there isn't a problem. A set code confirms a problem, but the absence of a code does not mean a problem is not there. It just means that the computer is not picking it up for some reason. You could try checking other posts on here that discuss the EGR blockoff plate. Disconnecting the EGR will of course turn on the light and set a code, but if it fixes your stalling problem, then you've found the culprit. Then you just get a new EGR valve. But you need to be sure because they are very expensive.2002 Silver Firebird A4<br />T-Tops, Leather, Y87, W68, Chrome Wheels<br />Bone Stock

Or just say screw it and take it to the dealer for a diagnosis. Then you can decide if it's easy enough to fix yourself.2002 Silver Firebird A4<br />T-Tops, Leather, Y87, W68, Chrome Wheels<br />Bone Stock

Re: Car dies at idle
I'm getting an intermittent misfire right now that causes my car to shut off occasionally at idle. I think my issue is a coil. even though I usually don't get a code. You may want to get yours checked out along with your injectors.1997 Camaro, Y87 Perf.
