  • Can someone help me figure out the order?

went to get my nys car inspection and i come to find out both of my swaybar endlinks are missing

no problem, they're like 8$ apiece for the bushing kit so i pick two up at advanced auto, only problem is i have nothing to refer the install to since both of mine are missing and the haynes manual doesn't say much about them.

i've found some pics online and this is what i've got so far.

    from top to bottom:

    9/16 nut
    washer
    bushing
    swaybar hole
    bushing
    washer
    metal bullet
    ?
    ?
    ?

after the metal bullet i'm kind of lost, this is where it goes into the control arm. I'd imagine it goes

    metal bullet
    washer
    bushing
    control arm hole
    bushing
    washer
    end of bolt

anyone whose replaced these things will understand what i'm talking about... i hope.

    thanks

washer and bushing then put in through the hole on arm, then bushing washer, bullet, washer, bushing, sway bar, bushing, washer, nut

basically its bushing metal (arm or swaybar) then bushing

Yes the way you put it is correct!

      great got it!

one more thing however, i installed one of these on my brother car (we kind of guessed at the order) and we didn't have enough space to put everything on there, so some of the washers were left off.

how can i get myself a little bit more room to put the extra stuff on?

maybe put car jacks under the control arms to push them up a little bit?

then i can have my buddy push on the swaybar a bit and see if that gives me enough room?

well, went ahead and installed them, still couldn't get any of the washers on but oh well these things dont' last very long anyways.

i will let u know my initial reaction on how handling has increased, i can imagine it will be most substantial since my front sway bar technically was not being used at all :)

i had a tough time getting everything on, i just got the nut barely threaded on each side. I can't remember exactly what I did, i just kinda pulled the bar down to get them to compress a little, then just pushed the nut on as hard as possible and spun it a little

EDIT: what end link and bushing set did you use? energy suspension?

oh no, just the replacement set from advanced auto, though i should say that the box said moog so for whatever thats worth.

since they are so i'll say "easy" to replace, if i want to put on some ES endlinks i will do it in the future when i put on my UMI panhard rod and control arms which are sitting in a box in my bedroom =)

compress the bar a little... easy to say!! it's pretty damn hard to bring it down an inch or two.

next time i'll position the jack stands better to get more compression on the front lcas.

I've seen this in another forum, use ramps to keep the weight on the wheels when you replace sway bar links.

dang that actually would have been a good idea. darn.

i suppose i could redo them, my buddy has got some ramps.
