  • 95 Camaro engine swap-3.4 to3.8

Hello all, new to this forum and looking for some help. I have a customer that has a 95 Camaro with a 3.4 and wants to put a 3800 in it, more specifically an L67 if possible. I am transplanting an L67 into an 86 Cutlass rwd so I know its a pain and a lot of custom work. If nothing else just an L36 will go into this 95 camaro. Whta all is involved with the swap if anyone on here has performed this task? L67 possible or no? Its got an auto tranny but I will get another one with a 3800. Please any help and info or link to go to would be greatly appreciated!

you need 3.8 motor mounts, and a l67 should fit, just need to fab an elbow to point the tb forward, and fuel lines

I know there are F-body salvage yards who sell a v8 swap kit for v6 f-body owners who want a v8. This kit includes a complete used LT1 engine (or LS1), k-member, fans, radiator, computer, wiring harness, drive shaft and the transmision bell housing. (no mention of suspension)
Why swap a 3400 for a 3800 and do all that work for 40 stock horse power? If you are going thru all the the work of a swap, go for the v8.

They want the supercharged engine initially, but mostly because its different. Yeah its only 40 hp more but the torque is far greater. In my defence I specialize in 3800 engines and custom swaps. I know mid 12s and faster is very easy to get out of an L67 with a few mods, and you cant get gas mileage out of a V8 like a V6 unless you drive like an old man all the time. I see 18-20mpg in town with my mid 12 sec grand prix and 29-32 on the highway. Not sure this guy cares about any of that, just wants something different and I have heard of this being done and pics would really be nice to see if possible. If nothing else he at least wants to swap to a NA 3800 and mod from there because he hates the 3.4 in it and wants to stay a V6 car.

gee if he hates the 3.4 he can always sell it and then buy a 3.8 car

It has been over 2 years since I was looking into the engine swap thing. Finally decided it was easier to buy a used z28 since I would have to "farm out" must of the work .
However, I do remember Billy Graham's Camaro & Firebird as being one place to buy a kit at the time. Sorry I cant be more help. I have throw away all information I had on this. Seems like the cost was a little of $4,000 not including shipping
