  • Royal purple engine oil.. anyone one?

    anyone use it?

My mom is paying for my oil change since i washed/waxed her car, and she came home with royal purple 10w30 synthetic motor oil.

Now, i've heard of Redline oil. but never royal purple..

    any input?

    It's all I use. No complaints. I use 5w30, it's a little lighter.

it is a waste of money.

royal purple is usually used for racing.

there is probably a huge difference between that, and a different brand of synthetic (assuming it is syn.) but you wolnt really notice it.

But it is probably good for the engine.

It's really good oil, and expensive your mom must not realize.
But it's designed for racecars or whatever but it wont hurt your car at all.

**** i would wash and wax my moms car if she'd pay for me to get a royal purple oil change.

Right and wrong... Royal Purple Racing Oil is designed for racecars. The regular Royal Purple synthetic oils are designed for street cars, and are very good oils. I used Royal Purple 10W30 in my 96 Firebird when I had it, and used it for a long time in my 99 TA. Now that my TA is a racecar, I use Royal Purple Racing Oil.

The common Royal Purple motor oils really aren't extremely expensive- generally about $5-$6 per quart. The racing oil is really expensive. I use Racing 21, which runs anywhere from $10-$12 per quart.

I use it in all my cars and love it. It extends the the mileage between oil changes, they run better, and i noticed at least 1.5 mpg increase. Doesn't sound like much, but I put on 100 miles a day.
