  • Sick of this rattling!!please help!!

I have had this rattlling noise when my car is under load and only when under load, it lasts a second or two untill the car levels off. For some reason if i shut the car off for even a second and start it back up its not there for the first minute or so and then it comes back, iv changed my plugs, used octane boost and im stummped, it seems like something is advancing the timing a minute or so after the car is started but i only hear the noise when i punch the gas,any help with this would be great, its really irratating.

I have the same issue actually. I was told it was my injectors, but I'm not so sure about that. Do you also hear a whine/spinning sound around ~2500 RPMs +/- 100 while driving?

Any mods, particularly headers or exhaust? If you do have headers, triple check them to make sure they're tight.

No i dont think i have the whinning spinning, it sounds exactly if you were to say the word "tICCkK" but only under load . While driving up a hill steady you can hear it tick a couple of times intemittitly, but when hard on the gas it goes like click click click really fast for a couple of seconds, very hard to explain but i really want this resolved and my mechanic cannot hear it .Oh and i dont have headers. Actually it sorta sounds like if you had a piece of exhaust pipe and stuck a screwdriver in and lightly tapped it back and forth, thats the noise!

exhaust leak, lifters, or injectors all can do that

but if it is more of a rattle than a tick it could be a pulley going bad

well its not really a tick that goes with rpms, more of a rattle that makes a ticking noise if that makes sense.i sorta does sound like a mechanical problem but which one of those things would only happen after the engine is started for a couple of minutes and not right away, even if the engine is hot and i shut it off then turn it back on its not there for the first minute or so??

Does the car have to be in gear to do it? If not, pull off the belt and rev it in your driveway. If so, you could pull the belt and try it, but be aware that you won't be running any of your accessories so you won't want to run it long or go very far. If the noise goes away after pulling the belt, then it's most likely a pulley.

Spin the pulleys one by one. If you hear any noise at all I've been told that means the pulley should probably be replaced.

Sounds like engine knock/Pinging. Probably caused from lake of fuel under engine load. Check your fuel pressure under load and also check the vacuum line going to the fuel pressure regulator for any cracks or looseness.

I checked the heat shields and everything seems tight, and the noise is only there when im in gear and driving under load,so i cannot reproduce this noise when in my drivway, which makes it so difucult, like i say it only lasts for a second or two,its kinda like a few light 'teh, teh teh, then a click or two',it does get louder after driving a while and after the car is shut off then turned back on its not there for the first minute or so.How can i check the feul pressure, and is it very much work? Also when i got my feul filter changed a few weeks ago my mechanic said there was somthing rattling inside it and thought the paper filter was balled up in there due to never being changed,is it possible a peice broke loose clogging the feul line??
