  • Very dirty throttle body....

Ok so i was bored today and have seen where several other people recommeded cleaning the throttle body. I pull mine off and get to looking at it and its very very dirty. My maf senser was very dirty also so i hosed it down with carb cleaner as well. My question is why or how does this get so dirty. Is it because of the EGR. Is there a way to disable the egr? Can i just crimp the egr hoses? I have pic of how dirty mine was on my car site below. thanks

carb cleaner on your maf! That probably wasn't good. Suppose to use electronic cleaner of some sort.

Removing EGR alone isn't gonna stop it, the PCV is still bringing in oil and stuff that helps dirty up the intake.

Depends on where the pintle is when you unplug it. Could stick open or closed, or somewhere in between.

Again, depends on where the valve sticks. If it's closed, the car will run normally but there'll be higher compression chamber temps and an increased potential for detontation. If it sticks open, the car will run bad.

at what times is the valve closed??? im guessing when the engine is cold. I guess tomorrow when i get up ill put my ignition in the run positon, then back off, ill unplug it and then start the car.
