  • Anything I should do to my bird before winter hits?

I have new tires I bought over the summer.

Almost at the 160k mark. Just worried about the age/miles that winter may pwn my bird.

Just make sure it is properly maintained and that any little things that are troublesome now are taken care of before it gets cold. I'd rather be doing repairs on a nice day on my own terms than in January in an emergency situation. If your battery is 5+ years old, replace it.

Yes, my battery just died this morning. Its a 98 so if the AutoCraft Titanium was stock, then its 10 years old. I had just gotten it back from the shop for squealing brakes from new pads and rotors, and was looking forward to driving in a cool autumn day.

Dang, if its not one thing its another.

I ended up getting an Interstate blemished battery, for $35. Hopefully its the battery and not the alternator.

I would change the oil, bleed the transmission fluid and change that, bleed your brake fluid and change that also and lastly bleed your Engine coolant reservoir and change that. You might also benefit from getting some Engine Restorer and possibly changing to a higher grade oil. I've heard 20W50 is overkill on our cars but I myself from experience don't believe that. My friend has a 1994 V6 Camaro with 155,000 miles changed it to a thicker oil since higher mile engines burn oil faster and I literally felt a moderate power increase, better idle and it feels like it improved about just as much as when he got his headers installed.

OH yeah before I forget though if you live in an area that gets cold often disregard using a thicker oil it will make your car harder to start.

Prevarications, the stock battery is AC Delco. Besides, I doubt if any battery will last 10 years. 5 years is about the limit, especially if you live where it gets cold. And be patient, a 10 year old car will have some issues to take care of. But once you get those resolved, it will be good to go for a long time.
