    hey all im new to this forum and a 4th gen i just picked up from a friend. He didnt have the door key so my question is can the stealership make a key based on the vin number. I know i was able to do this with my wrangler last year. thanks in advance:rock:

      I believe you can do that, you just need to bring proof of ownership.

        you can buy a blank key on ebay and then have any place cut it for you

            dealership here quoted me like 60$ to cut a new set of keys door and ignition for my 01 camaro from the VIN

              thanks everyone i should have th car in my diveway in weeks guess ill take the registration down to the local dealer and see what they can do.. really dont want to put all new cylinders in like i had to do in my 86 iroc

                make sure to show them original papers. Merit chevy by me would not take a copy of the papers

                  you know how many times i day i answer this question.

                  you must have a proof of ownership such as a title or tag receipt with your name on it. cant be your parents or anybody else, we can only cut keys for the owner. make sure when you register it if you drivers licenses says "Jr" or "II" or anything that your registration also says it. the ignition key is $24 the door key is $4 and there is a fee to access the key code information we charge $35, but everyone is different. black rs is correct must be orginals because with the way computers are now you can make a copied peice of paper say you own anyones car.
