I've always wondered about the throttle response on our cars. To me it seems really crappy. When I drive my mom's Chevy Equinox, I just tap on the pedal a little and I'm up to 2500 rpms and moving. Same with my ex g/f's Blazer. Seems like I have to press quite hard on the pedal to get moving in my car. Is this a traction control feature?

Re: Always wondered about the throttle response in our cars.
I think the throttle response in mine is OK. It's better when the engine is cold, though. It's substantially snappier. I think some of it is that our cars are pretty heavy for 200HP. There's hardly a V6 out there now that puts out less than 260HP. That's probably what we really need.2002 Silver Firebird A4
T-Tops, Leather, Y87, W68, Chrome Wheels
Bone Stock

Re: Always wondered about the throttle response in our cars.
Yeah it would be fun to throw 4.10's in there and see what it does. But I don't think I'd like the higher RPM's and higher highway fuel consumption, since most of my driving is highway.2002 Silver Firebird A4
T-Tops, Leather, Y87, W68, Chrome Wheels
Bone Stock

Re: Always wondered about the throttle response in our cars.
Throttle response relates directly to how quickly and efficiently the engine can breathe.
the quicker and better it breathes, the quicker and snappier the car becomes. Cold air is denser, so more air enters the engine quicker than warm air. Thus a snappier response. Clean your air filter, clean your TB, clean or get rid of your MAF Screen. This should make the response betterLast edited by Firebirdkid96; 10-23-2008, 05:38 PM.Y87 Package

doesnt bother me, put ur friends stratus or equinox up against a 3.8 it will lose.....Dont think our cars are that heavy.......u've seen new challengers, maros, mustangs? thats heavy

Re: Always wondered about the throttle response in our cars.
While the equinox gets up and goes quick, my car feels like it has more power up top. Then again my car should, the equinox only has a 3.6l 185hp and is heavier. Maybe I'll do a seafoam, but crap I just changed my plugs. =( Would cleaning the MAF screen do much?2001 Firebird 3.8L

Re: Always wondered about the throttle response in our cars.
Since I have a cable on my 96' I adjusted the cable, the throttle response will put you in your seat, plus the Transgo shift kit has alot to do with it too. But when I looked at the cable and it looked to have some slack , so I adjusted the mounting bracket so there is hardly any slack, made a huge difference. I can just tap the gas pedal and it moves like it should do.08' L76 6.0L 4X4 Chevy EXT.Cab LTZ Vortec MAX with Snug top cover, Dynomax exhaust,Hptuners& K&N intake

Where is this plate and cable?
you cant "snap" it open per say so it feels slower than it actually is
the plate/cable is on the throttle body, if you have a 99+ you are out of luck

Care to explain why some cars never came with MAF screens then? The only thing it does is serve as additional protection to your MAf sensor.

Re: Always wondered about the throttle response in our cars.
If that's true, maybe tuning would take care of it. GM may have improved the tuning in subsequent years for the drive by wire system.2002 Silver Firebird A4
T-Tops, Leather, Y87, W68, Chrome Wheels
Bone Stock
