  • Which Coils to go with?

I really think that I have a coil causing misfires, I'm hopefully getting them checked out at Autozone today. I was wondering if anybody had any input on which ones to go with.

    Stock: $40
    MSD: $47
    Accel: $??
    Off brand at Autozone: $20

I've heard all about how the Accel coils suck, I don't need anything else causing misfires right now, that's what I'm trying to cure. Has anybody tried the MSD? Are they worth the extra $7 or should I go with off brand ones for half the price of the ones from the dealership?

if you go with MSD you are gonna need to buy 3 of em, same with accel, both of these are designed to crank out more power and only having one and the other 2 stock is gonna make your car run funky.. if you go stock you should only need 1, I'd stay away from the off brand ones..

So does anybody know if the MSD have the same misfire problem as the Accel when the car sits at idle for a while? If I'm going to buy any coils, I'd rather buy all MSD if they are any better.

I don't know about MSD coil packs being affected by heat soak issues just like Accel's
        I still run stock ones.
I had upgraded to Accel's ages ago and ran into misfire issues.
I ended up just going back to stock.
I don't know anyone who runs the MSD version

well I don't think you will find anyone or will have a tough time finding anyone running the MSD's because they are supposed to be really new.. also according to accel's catalog they have redesigned their coils, I don't know what that means but if you look em up on their site on their .pdf catalog you will see what I'm talking about.. they are listed as being new and improved or something like that..

I have put in one MSD coil pack and I havent had any problems. I didnt notice any difference as far as performance though (maybe because I need the other two).
