My mind is kinda boggled on this one...both my wp underdrive pulley and one of my idlers (the one above A/C) are becoming really scratched up, and both have grooves now if you run your fingers across them....I can only assume this may be from a slipping belt, but I am not sure what is causeing it?
There is no squealing of any sort, but the white scratches on the pulleys is getting worse, and it is starting to worry me...
My alt is 1 year old, and my tensioner is about 6 months old so I doubt they are the problems....what could cause this?

are you sure its just not the paint has worn off and its showing the metal... mine look like that too but its fine.. nothing is wrong the paint has just worn down and its exposing the metal unless you have some deep *** groves or something..

i would say it looks like normal paint wear but where that thick black line of paint is on your idler the belt is white there that kinda has me conderned how is your belt tension?

tensioner was replaced not too long ago...I dont really know how to check tension, but it doesnt seem too tight...

                        Re: scratched/groved pullies

I will check in the morning when it is light out...the belt is brand new as of about a month and a half ago, so I would assume it should be fine....I will check anyways though....

even if its new it could be the wrong size and as far as testing the belt you should be able to turn it 90 but thats it is how i have always known how to do it

I'll check in the morning....I was told that this belt fit a little tighter then the old belt when my mechanic changed it...I trust it is the right size...but I will verify to be sure

i would start the motor and go under the hood and rev the motor if you have the cable throttle body. see is anything looks out of wack
