• lifespan of 3400 series?

ok 2 questions... how long should i expect my car to run strong? its a stock 3.4 obviously w/ the only changes to it being a new belt, and a new clutch (5-speed) it has about 85,000 miles on it and nothing seems wrong, starts unbelievably fast.. no hesitation, no squeeks inside or out (other than the damn glove box lid).. has a K&N filter too.. oil changed all the time.. etc.. how long??

talk to a guy here called MustangEater. If you're going to beat any 3.8, it would be like a 0-60 run or MAYBE a 1/4mi run, go past that and you'll get eatin alive!

MustangEater has the best N/A time out of a 3.4 that we know of. I believe his run was 15.4 @ 8X mph. If I'm not mistaken he runs 15.8s currently because of a redone (legal) exhaust system.

mustangeater has an unusually fast 3.4L. all he has is pretty much the basic bolt-ons. he doesn't have major stuff done like a cam or even headers for that matter. i personally witnessed him beating a lightly modified 3.8 down the 1/4 a couple of times. i think he could make his car even faster but after a tranny problem he had from racing the 3.8, i think hes planning on selling the car and getting an LT1. i'm trying to convince him into trading me some parts before he gets rid of the car since he probably won't get any extra money for them anyway. :D

oh and btw, i think he's got over 120K miles on his car which goes to show they still run strong.

Yep thats my car... I was running 15.6s with the street legal setup, with an open cutout, I hit the 15.4 with 100% illegal exhaust.

My car is a 5-speed, and has 125,000 miles on it. The motor, I had to adjust the rockers once(small ticking noise in the valvetrain) at I think about 115,000. Other then that my motor is 100% stock, stock throttle body, and exhaust manifolds.

I have over 130 runs down the track, and maybe 8-9 autocrosses, and a road race. Its been pretty reliable but I do not reccomend you race as much as I do, I have been real rough on clutches, and tires.

been awhile since I posted this but these are my current mods.

-homemade intake
-7mm ACCEL wires(they are fried and need replacing
-AC delco rapidfire plugs
-1le tranny mount
-poly torque arm bushing
-lt1 rear axle, which has 3.42s gears with lsd, and 4 wheel disc brakes
-lt1 driveshaft
-ASP crank underdrive pulley
-1LE sway bars, and poly bushings
-right now I have 2.5 in. highflow CAT, 2.5 in. s-pipe, and a stock lt1 z28 catback exhaust.

I started off running 16.8s, and did not really get into the 15s till I got an lt1 driveshaft and lt1 rearend with gears.

I don't think my car is a freak, I get a good launch and run, and my car runs well. Once I start getting into 3rd gear it runs loses power.

what kind of 3.8Ls you looking to beat my old roomate ran 16.8s in his 99 5-speed, and I ran a 3 16.5s in a 00 5-speed, then managed a 15.8, but I had problems launching it, I am not used to the clutch on the car.
