  • Royal Purple?dangerous?

I heard some rumors about royal purple being good for performance cars and not so good for regular cars, they say it ruins the stock seals and creates engine leaks, personally i don't see how it could be bad unless you use the wrong weight, can anyone shed some light?

    Re: Royal Purple?dangerous?

my bro uses royal purple on his camaro and he absolutely loves it. the car has more power and runs better too.

the only reason it would "cause" a leak is because the molicules are so small (for lubrication purposes) that they will simply show an existing leak that was there before.

but like i said my bro runs it and no complaints so far.

I've been using royal purple since I bought my Camaro a year ago. No problems, and it works great.

Haven't tried the motor oil yet (still happy with the Mobil1), but I did use RP trans fluid when I last changed all the fluids. Can't say that I've noticed any real difference from whatever was in there when I bought it, but then I'm not sure anything could turn the T5 into a racing transmission.
