• Yet Another Bad Gas Mileage Post....but this one is different!

My girlfriends 96 firebird is getting about 180m to the tank. (Odometer Reads about 75k) :(

So she turned to me for an answer. Im currently getting 260+. (My Odometer is currently at 75k too)

After doing a search, I compiled a list of things to check. Got anything else.

Multimeter check Coils.
Check Wires bad/burned wires and or plugs.
Check O2 Sensor.
Check and Clean EGR Valve.
Check PVC Valve
Check and Clean Air Filter.
Seafoam Intake.
Fuel Pressure Check.
Check Cat.
Pull off Belt and check/Grease pullies.
Check Fluids.
Check Alignmet/Tire Pressure
Check other filters

you should be able to fix it with a normal tuneup:

PCV
Plugs
Wires
Fuel Filter

They are the cheapest things and most common to f-up. Change those things, and if it still sucks, start checking the other things on the list. Good luck!

I hope they are not the plugs/wires and fuel filter. Beacause those were changed 5,000 miles ago. :mad:

But I guess its possible

</font>
what plugs did you use?
check ALL the wires to see if they are burned through, esp. if they didnt use heat wrap.

PCV is key also, change that, its like a $3 part and 5 min of labor......just make sure you have RTV sealant on hand.

</font>
But he just changed his plug and wires. If the wires were burned then his car should be misfiring.
How would the PCV cause more gas to be used?
