    specs of car?

do you have a 160 thermo?

how often are you getting this code? i have had it happen on a different car before, but it was just an isolated case.. nothing to be worried about

No real mods have been done to the car... basically just a stock V6 :( i know its a shame

I have a 180* thermostat in there currently that i replaced about a year going on 2.... i just got the code the other day and it has not gone away.

Thanks cam98aro for the advice, i hope it goes away, that SES light really gets on my nerves!!!!

You can check your thermostat with a pan of hot water and a thermometer. It should open when the temp in the pan reaches 180. Then if the code stays, check the temp sensor. You can check its resistance using the pan of hot water and comparing it to the thermometer reading. At x temp it should have y resistance. Watch it throughout the range all the way to boiling and make sure the resistance values are correct, and that it's a smooth transition.

I would think those are the only two things that could cause a code.

personally, i wouldnt do anything unless it comes back again

sometimes there can be just a freak code out of nowhere

for instance, on my friends truck, his computer was used to him driving to work at 90mph every day, the location of his work changed, and his truck kept overheating because the computer wasnt turning the fan on

I agree. See if the code comes back before you start worrying about it.
