Needle goes past Full when I put gas in it. It goes about almost less then a half inch past full. Is this normal?

check your RPO codes for the R24 code... you must have it, its the high preformance gas tank option. see they use the same gauge for all the cars but if you have the R24 option then it will go a little past full cause its a high preformance gas tank, consider yourself lucky.

yes, its normal for me: it goes below empty when I still have lots of gas too (1 gallon or so)

my 1989 RS did this. It really dont matter. The only important thing is that it still says empty when you are empty. Is the car empty when the needle is above empty on the gauge? If not then I wouldnt worry much about it. Sounds to me the same as my old camaro used to do. No biggie.

F-bodies are wierd like that, it is because the shape of the tank. They all of a sudden drop. With the Performance Gas tank, How many gallons does it have?

It's true. Imagine an upside-down triangle. If you cut the triangle in half, the top half is larger than the bottom half. Same with our tanks. The top half of the tank physically holds more fuel.

The car I have now is my 3rd F-body. All of them acted the same way. Gauge always went past full, and after about a 1/2 tank drops quicker that before.
