Check the manual... 4.75 quarts on 3.8 engines. I use Mobil's M201 filter...double the capacity of the M101...which constitutes the additional .25 qrts.
If it counts engine rotation...well, that's almost 9K miles of rotating.
I'm not aurguing with anyone...if y'all want to do 6-8K mile oil changes...do it. I work in a service shop...I see what happens.
I will NOT, or ever, do more than 3K per oil change...it gives me a peice of mind. $50 and 30 minutes is a small price to pay to drive your car for 10+ years with 300K on the ticker.
With all regards, everyone is able to change their oil when they want on their cars. I'm just adding my 2 cents...3K or 3 months. Nothingless for me...
manual calls for 4.3 for the 3.4 and 4.5 for the 3.8
my car will be exactly full with 4.5 quarts and the long oil filter
np, you deserve it. so are you going to mod your car more and if so what mods are you planning on next?
Nothing...trying to keep up with the maintenance. Retint the windows (scratches), new turn signals and fogs (cracked), new MSD coils, wires.
Trying to score a 3.8 I can keep in the garage so I can build it on my free time. So when the one in the engine finally sings its last song...I got another one ready to bolt right in.

building it on your free time? doesnt that mean moding it more?
i change the oil every 7500 miles in my envoy and grand prix. its about the same time my computer says the car needs an oil change. I run ac delco filters and mobil 1. I just cracked 130000 miles on the gp and the envoy has 50000. I change the oil in both of my camaros once a year regardless of mileage since they sit for a few months during the winter. My 69 camaro and the envoy take 7 qts each so it gets expensive pretty quick.

it shouldnt be that expensive for the camaro since unless you have a roller cam you should not be using synthetic oil
Thank you...I was beginning to wonder if everyone thought they were smarter than the engineers at GM. With the 98% highway driving I do, the "change oil" light usually comes on at around 7k miles - which is still about every three months for me. Even without the computer telling me when to change it I go 5k miles between changes on my other cars (Mobil1 in all of them). The only car that get the oil changed more frequently is the race car, which I usually change every third race weekend - or about every 225-250 miles. I think the usage on that car qualifies as "extreme" duty use though ;)
Yeah, mine is a lot of stop and go and high revving. If I'm not mistaken, I think my light comes on a tad before 3000 miles.
