Okay, so a few days ago I was in the mountains and it was really cold outside (like 4 degrees). Now, the A/C is not cold anymore. The compressor kicks in, but no cold air comes out of the vents. The fan still blows the air just fine. I'm getting rid of this car in a couple months, so I'm not taking it to a shop to get it fixed. I might guess one of the seals on the compressor went out during the cold. If you flip the switch over to A/C, the compressor still kicks in since I feel the engine take the load of the compressor. I'm thinking it might not be a leak since from what I've read on here the A/C compressor wouldn't even kick in if all the freon leaked out. There is no difference between outside air and A/C on, and the A/C was ice cold before this incident. Should I even waste my money on an A/C recharge kit or is the compressor just toast?
Also, the car is a 98 Camaro V6 auto.
