  • Heat :-(

Here we go again not only with my wipers, but not my heat wont come out of the front blowers anymore it only comes out on the floor now. afew days ago I was goin to work and it was cold as hell. Come to find out all of the water in my cooling system froze so I had to pull over. Hours later after getting everything defrosted the heat stopped comming out of the front vents...whats goin on?

do you have a 50/50 mix or just water in there? Coolant shouldn't freeze....

how is your temperature reading when you have the heater on?

If you have only water in there, flush it ASAP and put 50/50 coolant in.
N.C. get's cold temps too, and you're at a heavy risk with water only.

If the system froze, did it crack your block? Look under the engine for any type of leakage. If it does leak, hopefully it's out of a freeze plug only.

If the heater isn't working, most of the time it's from a faulty thermostat. They can get stuck in the "open" position, causing the coolant to constantly flow through the engine, cooling it too much. Or, it can get stuck in the "closed" position causing the engine to overheat. Either way, it's best to replace it asap.

there is a check valve that may need to be replaced for the vents to work. its on the pass side of the engine bay

Also check for cracked vacuum hose. Is there a constant hissing sound while trying to get the dash vents to work?

No not really it just comes out on the floor and the defrost for the windshield, when I turn it on nothing happens it just comes out of the floor as if I chose that setting or somthin MAN the hoes don't like that! By the water freezing up in my cooling system because I had all water in there....would that have cracked or broke somthing?

sorry if i am repeating anything, but the "stock" location for the vents is what you described, your vacuum line probably fell off.

since water expands when it freezes, it can crack your block, but i doubt anything really happened

                  sounds like a vacuum problem

Assuming thats the case because everythingelse seems to be working fine....where do I check for these vaccum hoses and what do they look like?

i really have no idea, but there may be one that hooks up to the back of the intake

i have also heard there is a type of valve near the fuse box
