  • What would pulley's do for me?

I'm thinking about getting them for my car. What exactly are they and what kind of performance gains will I notice with them? Also, how much do they go for? I am on a tight budget right now.

Im not sure what gains you will get but i got my pulleys from ammperfonmance for $50 a set of crank and alt, but i havent installed them yet. I will probobly need differnt size of belt too, but i dont know for sure. I dont know if its a good mod, but for 50 bux i thought i would try it. I just hope i dont screw up my alternator or water pump cuz the way pulleys make power is by slowing down your acceseries.

The general consensus is little or no gain from underdriving the 3.8. :(

What about 3.4? Does anyone who put pulleys felt the difference?

I didn't think they made pulleys for the 3.8..?

They probably don't (I've never seen them). Reason being, there would be little or no gain. ;)

3.4 -- I think pulleys do free up a few HP. Seems to be a semi-popular mod.

SixBanger, check out the Modifications Database. Lots of useful info in there:

            Underdrive Pullies
Underdrive pullies reduce the load the serpentine belt places on your crankshaft by your accessories. The result is that a few more horsepower are freed up. No company makes underdrive pullies for the 3.8 but they are made for the 3.4.

ASP - for the crank and alternator set these pullies will run about $80. They fit the 3.4 only.
