• Bad Gas

Every where I look people are getting great milage out or their cars. Im getting about 18mpg max and I only have cai and new exhaust. On a 95 3.8 i should expect more. Are there any stock parts I might blame my bad milage on such as bad spark plug wires???
There is fast, too fast, and way too fast. Way too fast is almost fast enough.

Keep your air filter clean and the pedal off the floor!
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming: \"WOW!!!!, what a ride!\"

I'm getting 24.xx mpg average. I don't rev it up much, seems like the car is working hard. So, I shift at around 2-2500 rpms moderately.

If you are getting such low mileage, I would get that checked on. How is the acceleration? Maybe your car is running rich, maybe the cat or air filter is clogged? When you put it in neutral does it slow down kinda quick?

....at least another 5 mpg. Try a full tune-up and then drive conservatively with your next fillup. See what kind of changes that makes for you.

I get in the low 20's in the city and last time I took a road trip I got a little over 30 and light foot is not what I'm known for. Check the plugs, wires, air filter and tire psi

I get 18-22 and I am a heavy footed driver...

As for things to chec on with your car...

Plugs, wires, air filter(doesn't affect mileage but will cause you to romp the car more, hurting milege)

and an overlooked thing, if your car is up on miles a little bit definitely do the o2 sensors if they are going bad they will get bad readings and send a false signal making the car run rich.

I was getting 12mpg city, and 17 highway in my 3.4L swapped o2s, and was up to 21 city 28 highway, no other change.

Same miliage here. But I have an auto. I am sure that makes a difference in stop and go traffic.

Most people over look a couple things when trying to figure out "why do i only get 10 mpg" here is my top 3 list :D

1) This is the biggest gas guzzler amongst todays youth. A big asss 200000(exaggerated) watt stereo system This sucker will take up to but not limited to 5-10 MPG off of your fuel consumption. If you dont have a big stereo system then it could also be ANYTHING that draws mass amounts of current from your alternator (neon lights, TV screens, misc add-ons) Note: your alternator works harder everytime you run extra accessories, EVEN your air conditioner will drain 2-3 mpg. Your alternator is driven by a pulley off of the crankshaft so the harder your alternator has to work to power your accessories the more your fuel economy will go down the toilet.

2)
Mustang eater good advice! an o2 sensor that has over 35-40k miles on it is will definetly richen out the fuel mixture more than a new o2 sensor, since the older the sensor gets the worst its sensing capabilities get also. Hence, it reads lean mixture so it tries to richen it out.

3)Also might want to check fuel pressure regulator if your car is up on miles 50k +. A regulator that is supplying more pressure than nessecary will definetly richen the mixture.
Also clean your injectors a leaky injector will make your car hesitate and give you poor fuel efficiency!

Also note if you have an SES light popping up and still wondering why your getting 8mpg then maybe you should use that as a clue lol.

Hope this helped someone out there. I know i think i typed to much lol

I have a very light foot so I know that is not the problem.I guess I will get my sensors replaced because I have over 90,000 miles.
When you put it in neutral does it slow down kinda quick?
Yes, but it has been doing that ever since I got my new exhaust setup.
