What kind of gas do you use?

Until recently ive been using the crappy stuff...or the button on the far left on the gas pump. And now my car runs like S*** and i got an SES light and im missfiring. So i switched to the expensive stuff (far right button) like the owners manual said and im hoping my car will start running better after i run about a tank or so of the expensive stuff. Also i was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if u have what did u do to fix it?

At my gas station the pump on the far left was deisel.... I guess running that was a bad idea.

    Time to check:
    Plugs
    Wires
    Coils

How many miles on your car?

    Oh yah, I use 87

if my car doesn't start running better here within a week or so im taking it to the chevy dealer and ill have them see whats wrong and if its something with the coils, wires, plugs ill replace them

They're gonna charge you $70+ for a one time deal that you can either do for free, or time and time again for about $120.

Either take it to an Autozone (Napa, Shucks, Checkers, Pep Boys, etc...) and ask if they can scan your codes. If you want to take the plunge, buy your own ODBII scanner (mine was $150 and has payed for itself 3 times over). If you are getting a multiple cylinder misfire then it's either the coil pack for that cylinder, the plug or wire.
          Coils - about $35 each
Wires - $ 30 for cheapies at store - $60 for 8mm from any of our fine sponsors or thunderracing.com
Plugs - cost is up to you.

Might wanna read the manual again, because it says to use 87 octane (cheap stuff). Higher octane for a stock or mildly modded car is a waste of money. If you car runs better on high octane, then something's wrong.

Exactly. Leave the high octane to the engines that are made to use it. Find out why a F Body V6 has problems with 87 and fix it.

pretty much the only reason you would need to use a higher octane gas is if your engine starts to knock.
any other time is just a waste of money

I used to use 87 but i started using 93 and started getting around 20-30 miles more per tank.
Also i didnt want any 93 octane left in the tank before it went to the shop since my new engine will have raised compression from stock.

I don't care what anybody says... I have always used premium and always will. I definitely notice a slight performance gain with the higher octane and jeeeezzzz fella's it's only 2 to 3 dollars more per fill-up. I pretty much use Chevron premium with Techron. I have no idea if that stuff really works to keep the fuel system clean but it seems to work well as I have been using it for years.

                          For what it's worth.

Myself and AZv6camaro are both in Arizona. Thanks to the strict emissions laws and the damn fuel additives, the highest octane available here is 91..
