security light on in dash

Has anyone ever had a problem with the security light comeing on in your dash.I had this problem with my car.When the security light is on the car will not start it has to do with that pass key chip that is on your ignition key.I had to call my GM dealer to find out what was going on.They told me to let the car sit for 30 min. then try again.So I did then it started up and the light was out.Just like to know if anyone had this same problem.

Try cleaning your key with an eraser

had it happen to me also. wouldnt start, so i got out and let it sit for like two minutes, and then got back in and it was fine. its the PassKey thing, but it only did it once,

Ive had the security light come on but with out the whole not starting problem, weird. Wonder what the deal is.

or u can take it to radio shack, have them meausre your resistor in your key , have them give u the resistor of the same ohms. go under dash find a set of wires with a orange wire cover unclip the harness and insert the resistor in the top half of the harness. problem solved forever (well unless the resistor falls out LOL)

I had that happen yesterday. I noticed the light, then I hit the unlock key on the remote 3 or 4 times, problem solved. Over the past couple of months the range on the remote kept getting shorter, so I took the battery out and wiped off both sides of it with my shirt, and no problems since.
