my 94 v6 Has been running very rich and suffers from a lack of power at highway speeds(the car struggles to get to 80mph) since I overfilled the oil(due to a leak that is now repaired). I'd say I'm getting 10 mpg. Now keep in mind that the car ran fine before the overfilling incident. But when the overfill happened, I was getting loads of blue smoke and some black soot residue coming out of my exhaust as I limped the car home a nice distance.
I finally got the OBD1 codes checked. Here is what I got:
1. Code 77- Digital EGR Circuit.
I personally believe that the crappy performance may be due to the Cat being clogged, but it is welded on and I lack the tools to get it off and take a look. I have heard that a clogged cat can cause an EGR code-77 to pop up. Is it possible that the oil could have screwed my EGR? Could I clean it or does it need to be replaced?
2. Code 93- Transmission pressure control solenoid Circuit.
I'm not sure what to think of this one. I never had any shifting problems. The part is pretty cheap. What type of symptoms would a faulty trans pressure solenoid cause? Is it easy to replace? Could this lead to a serious transmission problem?
The next step for me is taking the car to a shop to get the Cat checked.Any help or suggestions on these codes would be nice
