  • ARGH....

This car is making me go crazy.

At highway speeds, if I try to give it more gas, it stutters like it doesn't want to go.

I have a SES light (solid) due to an EGR valve which was on when I started the car this morning. Then when I rolled to a stop at a stop light, the car knocked a little and gave me a flashing SES light.

I take my car in Thursday, anyone diagnose this problem or what it sounds like? THanks.

isnt the flashing ses a sign of serious trouble?

It means there is a mis-fire.

It flashed for about 10 seconds then went solid again. After that, it stayed solid...no more flashing.

Everytime I give my car 2 or more days off, it acts up. Must not like days off...

Flashing SES indicates a chronic misfire, as you previously stated. Check wires, plugs, coil packs. Run your car in a dark garage with the hood up. Should help you to locate any arcing that is happening with your plugs and/or wires.

I had the stutter for about two weeks now, just got the SES flash this morning...

think they might be caused by the same problem? I'm hoping at least they are...one problem, not two.

Sounds like the same problem I had when my plug wires went bad. What year is your vehicle? GM issued a recall where they extended the warranty on plug wires for 7 years or 70,000 miles whichever comes first. The TSB is 99057.

I am getting hosed by Pontiac and the dealer on this. Don't let them jerk you around if that is the problem and you are within the limits....

Could also be the ignition module.

It is most likely a coil pack or plug wire. This happend to me 2 times and both times it was a coil pack. TAKE IT IN AND GET IT CHECKED you obviously know it is a missfire because of the SES light flashing so it is either a bad coil pack(s) or a bad plug wire(s) or the ignition module only way to diagnos it is get it checked :D

Okay, hopefully it is a coil pack or ignition module. My car is still under warranty...but plug wires aren't covered.

Today and yesterday on the drive home I didn't have any drivability problems, SES stayed solid.

Can that stuttering and hesitation sound like it could be caused by a coil pack, ignition module?

Oh well...I'll see Thursday when I take it in. I just had the wires done under the 70k thing...they charged me $300 but refunded it later.

                        Thanks guys...
