no cold A/C air!!!! help

I turned my car on and went for a drive just to find out that my ac isnt working right. do I need to have it recharged or ??

first of all check to see if your fan is working.

is your compressor kicking in? If not then either your low on freon, or the the pressure switch crapped out.

the thing that used to be cold isnt cold anymore when it is running. how do you check for freon?? pressure switch???

Sounds like you need to take it i for a free a/c check ;)

usually I see places like presicion tune, shclep boys, or even sears advertising for free checkups or at least low cost one. Find out what they say & go fix it yourself ;)

this is the first time even really looking at the thing. can you give directions or point me somewhere that will show how to fix it

the guy at this chevron place tested and i have no pressure at all, he said he could find the problem for $38. they checked the pressure for free, but does anyone know where they could diagnose the problem for free. I guess they have to charge it to see where the leak is, but I dont have the $$$$...its $16 per pound of this stuff. wondering if I should save my money for the t-top kit and just leave the a/c on for now and later delete it. huh...sighhh

There are 2 pressure switches, one on the hi pressure line, one on the low pressure line. Try disconnecting the 2 pole switch and jump wire the connector. If the clutch engages you problably only need a recharge. Is there a leak somwhere you must find the leak with a charge and a leak detector.
You can also try connecting the ac clutch directly to 12 volts to see if it engages. Be careful with the connector....try finding a connector and make a jumper wire.
