i was just wondering if going from dexcool to the green stuff will affect anything. i have a 96 bird and when the shop did the flush and fill they put in the green. should i be concerned about anything.
bad news- the 96 bird is gone<br />good news- a 95 trans am replaced it:lt4 cam and heads, msd, hooker headers,3inch flowmaster, cold air induction, and some laughin gas!

I just hope they flushed out your whole cooling system very well. If that is the case there should not be anything to worry about.

Yeah you have to get ALL of that dexcool crap out. They dont mix to well. but the green stuff is MUCH better! Like 94Teal said, you should thank them. ;)

By flushing the whole cooling system, we mean everything [motor, radiator, expansion tank], not just draining the radiator. I've heard that mixing the two types is seriously bad for things.

If not flushed properly there will be a lot of jello looking thing in your cooling system. Not good for car.

Green Glychol antifreeze is NOT better then Dex-cool. It's a change that was needed. The low silicit formula in dex-cool is whats needed to maintain a healthy system in newer vehicles. Most of this reason is due to the different materails that the radiators and engines are made from. We have a lot more aluminum then we used to. The big thing that causes most problems with dex cool is the water used with it. you MUST USE DISTILLED WATER in any antifreeze mixture but is especialy important with dexcool. Yes mixing the 2 will cause a lot of issues.

im on HBH's side. Chevrolet's people aren't stupid. the dex-cool is the one we are suppose to use for a reason and HBH made a good point. the only problem is the mechanics and owners that doesnt maintain the cooling sytem properly. if they didnt flush the entire system, i would thank them for ruining your stuff cause thats what is going to happen soon

My coolants got mixed by a mechanic and next thing I knew my whole system was clogged with a brownish red jello. My car overheated and I got it flushed. They must not have gotten it all out cuz the car has been overheatin ever since. It overheated twice yesterday and goin to the shop tomorrow. What a sad day. :(

exactly. Dex cool is in for a reason. Thats the precise reason that we should use it. When I got my car with 20K miles on it I flushed mine out and replced it with more dexcool and distilled water. It should have been fine but I just didn't want to chance that the owner before me didn;t use distilled water. if you stick to 50/50 distilled and dex-cool you will be set.
