A/C prob too frosty!

  • A/C prob too frosty!

    my ac is trippin. when its on for more then 15 mins the hoses and any aluminum parts get frozen even when im running the heat?? i dont know whats wrong the ac will stop blowing until the frozen part unfreez:(

    there has to be a clog or restriction some where in the system

      is it humid outside? high humidity will cause that. all in all, you can always make sno-cones on the go now... just add flavoring.
      MISC: 01 parts. Some interior, T top kit, seats etc.

        low or too much refrigerant will cause that

          I would agree with vr4gasm, you should check your refrigerent levels first. Ice build up is a classic symptom of low refrigerent. The components should be cold enough to form lots of condensation, but never cold enough to form ice. If that checks out, then next check to make sure there are no obstructions to the airflow over the evaporator coil. If that checks out then there is probably something wrong internally that you'll need to investigate.

              Isn't there a gauge you can put on it? There's a port there with like a schreader valve?

                  about 3 months ago but i have a feeling that there to much in it or maybe im hopeing that cause i guess i would just have to take some out?

                    im not sure,but when too much freon the compressor does not turn on,,,,,, the same happened to me but with my room a/c,and it was low freon!!but take it to a shop.

                      Mike, you can get a pressure gauge at Walmart or any auto parts store. Some of the cans of refrigerant come with a gauge already attached. You run the A/C and attach the gauge to the port that's on the accumulator (or whatever it's called... I forget) - It's the large cylindrical thing in your photos. Let us know what it shows.
