vacuum, intake mani gaskets (water getting into cyl causing a SLIGHT missfire possibly but not enough to toss a code because the inj. and spark plugs are firing... higher rpm means more neg pressure which will suck that water up. Its possible.. my intake mani gaskets were blown, caused the rpms to go crazy... ses was on, but that was from the egr and O2's.

Yeah , like i say, i really dont think this is mechanical due to the sporatic coming and going and completly going when warmed up, so i think im just gonna warm the car up good before driving until i can get it in to the dealer, hopefully they will have some insight.can u think of anything electrical that could cause this when cold? thx for all the help.

oh this is easy ur misfireing cause ur vacuum is ****ed and ur misfireing bad the way our trannys r when ur motor is running bad they disengage so they dont hurt the drivetrain from jerking. there r a couple of thing it could be 1 vacuum 2 ignition probs 3 gaskets somewere r bad 4 possible jumped timing and or plugged exhaust. i had a 1996 jimmy when ever it ran bad the tranny would dissengage and sound like it was gunna blow up until i got the fuel injection fixed

That could be a possibility,my coils are definatly good cause i just put new blasters on yesterday, the only thing is , is that it doesnt sound like its misfiring, it does under load but not when i first leave the house and thats when the idle is high and somtimes feels jerky, could a maf senor cause these kind of problems, or a temp sensor? becuase temperature does effect this, if its drivin when cold the problems will persist until i stop the car and resart it no matter how long its driven for it wont go away unless its restarted after getting up to norm operating temp?

MSD blaster coils? I've heard they cause nothing but problems........If you said it runs the same with the MAF unplugged, it's not that. It does seem ignition related to me; take it and have it scanned. Even thought the SES isn't on, it could still be throwing codes that might help us diagnose it.

Re: NOBODY can figure this out! stumped

I never heard anything bad about them, but anyway the car runs no different with them so its not the coils, plus i like the color of them lol,if the car was throwing codes would the light not come on, i assumed if any codes were being thrown it would cause the light to come on.Again, does anyone no if a temp sensor can cause this ,either in the transmision or coolant temp sensor, i just dont no how anything else like ignition could cause a problem then be completly reset after the car is restarted, its like when the car is first started its picking settings for a cold car and not changing the setting as the car warms but a restart after warming up gives it new (warm car) settings,if that makes sense, I really appreciate all the input guys.

possibly a PCM problem. but now that your getting into the nerve center of the car. its really time to take it to the GM guys... gonna cost ya some, but its cheaper than replacing everything till you narrow it down. And in this time of day, Time is Money...

Yeah i just put in a service request for a scan at GM, and i really appreciate the help but once again could a temp senor in the trans or engine cause this kind of problem???

10 bucks its the white switch at the brake pedal, that one causes the lock up locking back and forth,if its not corectly screwed in.

Isnt there numerous things that control the locking of the TC? cause i dont think the brake pedal switch would cause the irratic idleing and be effeted by temperature. And i decided to have the coolant flushed cause it looked old and gross and when i started the car to leave the shop it started to do the crazy idleing and rattle under load, AND THEN FINALLY thru a code P0118 the guy said it was engine controls ignition reley feedback circuit. Anyone no what this means???

so the code is engine coolant temperature sensor high circuit voltage, but now im not sure if it was caused by maybe still having some air around the sensor after the flush or from my problem, but it was definatly doing they exact same symptoms as before except the car wasnt really cold this time?? i have no idea, time for the stealers to look at it.

believe it or not, I only take my girls durango to the dealer. its really not that bad unless they have to rip into the truck.. you may be surprised on what they will charge.. I know a diag. isnt cheap cheap, but they normally figure it out within the hour.

and 3.4.. Thats not very nice.. lol

its possible for it to be a bad switch, might not be making a connection and after everything warms up, the switch will make a contact and wont get noticed until the car is restarted

the best advise i can give you is dont think too hard about the problem.. its usually the simplest and dumbest things that cause problems.

for instance, a friends car wouldnt start, i did a whole bunch of tests on it, and was almost positive it was an IAC.. turns out it just needed new plugs/wires/cap/rotor

i have never seen a car start perfectly fine all of the time, then just randomly not start like that with the cause of the bad things i listed

got spark, timing was good, and it tried to start when given full throttle.. i thought way too much into it, and it turned out to be something simple
